Ginna Laport named president-elect of the American Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation

Ginna Laport, MD, (professor, blood and marrow transplantation), has been elected president-elect of the American Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (ASBMT), following a national vote among the society’s membership.

The ASBMT is an international professional membership association of more than 2,000 physicians, investigators and other healthcare professionals in the blood and marrow transplantation (BMT) field. As president-elect, Dr. Laport will promote the mission of the society, which includes fostering research and the development of BMT both as a science and a therapy, providing mentoring and research funding to young investigators entering the field, and sponsoring publications and scientific meetings for the exchange of basic, translational and clinical advances.

Dr. Laport first joined the association as a member in 1995 and became more actively involved throughout the years. From 2007-2010, she served on the ASBMT Board of Directors, and was later elected secretary of the Executive Committee in 2011.
