Stanford Welcomes New Class of Residents
This past week Stanford welcomed its new residency class 100% virtually, but no less enthusiastically than in previous years. The 2021-22 class matched to Stanford after logistical feats that included including coordinating 14 virtual ‘dinner’ sessions and more than 1000 individual virtual interviews.
This year’s 54 incoming interns are made up of 35 Categorical Interns (including 1 Global Health Track intern), 2 Medicine-Anesthesia interns, and 17 Anesthesia/Neurology interns who will be at Stanford for a year.
Ron Witteles, MD, professor of cardiovascular medicine and Residency Program Director, expressed his gratitude to all the staff and faculty who pulled off this fully virtual recruitment, adding that he’s “certain that we’ll all greatly enjoy working with this incredible group of incoming housestaff for the coming years” and calling it an “honor and a privilege” to be part of the matching process.
