Center for Digital Health Welcomes Michael Avanti Lopez as New Executive Director

April 26, 2024 – From the Desk of Eleni Linos, MD, MPH, DrPH

I am delighted to announce the appointment of Michael Avanti Lopez as the new Executive Director of the Center for Digital Health (CDH), effective this April. As a Stanford Law School alumnus, with experience in technology and academia, Michael brings a deep understanding of the intersection between technology, law, and health. His expertise aligns seamlessly with CDH’s mission to drive innovation in digital health across multiple sectors.

Lopez holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social Studies from Harvard University and a Juris Doctorate from Stanford Law School. He joins us at the Center for Digital Health following his role as the inaugural Assistant Vice President for Facilities at Princeton University. During his tenure at Princeton, he led several key initiatives, including Organizational Effectiveness and Communications, Construction Communications, the Office of Sustainability, and the Office of Campus Accessibility. His strategic leadership not only enhanced university operations but also fostered significant cross-departmental collaborations.

Before joining Princeton, Michael Avanti Lopez worked at Palantir Technologies. He also served as an associate at the law firm Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, and as the Executive Director of Stanford’s Program on Human Rights at the Center on Democracy, Development, and the Rule of Law.

I am thrilled that Michael is joining our team at this exciting moment in time. Our Center’s goal is to bring together the best and the brightest minds to answer important research questions in a way that is both scientifically rigorous and ethically sound. Michael’s expertise in technology, law and academia is therefore an incredible asset to the Center’s mission. Our hope is to lead CDH to achieve these objectives by fostering collaboration among diverse communities of scientists, promoting team science, and catalyzing groundbreaking research. This collaborative approach is designed to enhance the development and application of digital tools in tackling major health challenges globally.

Please join me in welcoming Michael Avanti Lopez to the CDH team. We look forward to the expertise and energy he brings as CDH embarks on this exciting new chapter in advancing health through digital innovation.

Sincerely,

  • Eleni Linos
