Endocrine Society Names Laurence Katznelson as 2017 Laureate

The Endocrine Society has announced its 2017 Laureate Award Winners. Laurence Katznelson, MD, named “Outstanding Educator” by the Society, is among 14 leaders in the endocrine field to receive laureate honors this year. The annual awards – recognized as the highest achievements in the endocrinology field – celebrate professionals whose research breakthroughs have the potential to lead to cures and whose clinical skills set “the gold standard” for patient care.

Katznelson, says the Endocrine Society, is not only “one of the elite endocrine educators in the United States” but also an “internationally renowned clinical investigator.” At Stanford, he is professor of neurosurgery and medicine and associate dean for graduate medical education. He has served as director of both the Stanford Adult Endocrine Training Program and the Endocrine Society’s Early Investigators Workshop for Trainees Program. Past teaching awards include the Endocrine Division Teaching Award and the Excellence in Teaching Award from the School of Medicine.

Endocrine News will feature all 2017 laureates in its January 2017 edition, and the Endocrine Society will host an official awards ceremony in Orlando in April.
