Department of Medicine faculty honored by AAP and ASCI
Four Department of Medicine researchers were recently inducted into the Association of American Physicians (AAP) and the American Society for Clinical Investigation (ASCI) during the joint ASCI/AAP Annual Meeting in Chicago.
AAP
Founded in 1885 by seven physicians dedicated to the “advancement of scientific and medical practice,” the AAP is a professional organization composed of more than 1,300 active members. Membership recognizes excellence in the pursuit of medical knowledge and in the advancement of basic and clinical science. The AAP welcomed three Department of Medicine faculty members into their prestigious group:
Joseph Wu, MD, PhD - professor of medicine (cardiovascular); professor of radiology; and director, Cardiovascular Institute
Steve Artandi, MD, PhD – professor of medicine (hematology); and professor of biochemistry
Glenn Chertow, MD, MPH – professor of medicine (nephrology)
ASCI
The ASCI is an honor society of more than 3,000 physician-scientists from all medical fields. ASCI members are elected before their 50th birthday, and must demonstrate outstanding records of scholarly achievement in biomedical research.
