MERIT Pathways
The robust mentorship program and specialized tracks at the Stanford IM residency are complemented by a unique and innovative program designed to provide all residents in our Categorical Program with individualized areas of expertise and distinction. Upon entering the R2 year, residents will have the opportunity to select up to two MERIT Pathways that align with their clinical/scholarly interests. Each MERIT Pathway will be directed by a faculty distinguished in their field. A resident within a specific MERIT Pathway will have unique professional development opportunities and receive additional targeted mentorship from MERIT leaders. Explore our offered MERIT Pathways below.
The Medical Education MERIT aims to provide residents with the foundational skills needed to be an outstanding medical educator and incorporate education into their future careers. The structure includes interactive workshops and didactic sessions on topics such as bedside teaching, feedback delivery, curriculum and survey design, and development of an education portfolio, among many others. Mentorship is provided for curriculum design and medical education research projects that address educational needs and interventions at all levels of medical training.
