Stanford offers several tech resources designed to make your work smarter, safer, and more efficient.
Here are some you should know about.
Stanford AI Playground
Curious about AI? The AI Playground, developed by University IT, offers a safe, Stanford-hosted space to explore and experiment with AI tools from providers like OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic - all in one place. No coding experience required.
Try out prompts, adjust model settings, and see how different tools respond. Whether you're brainstorming, summarizing text, or just getting a feel for what AI can do, this platform is built for exploration.
Available to Stanford faculty, staff, students, postdocs, and visiting scholars as part of a UIT pilot program. Just remember: don't input high-risk or sensitive data, and always verify AI-generated content before using it.
Secure GPT - Stanford Health Care and School of Medicine
Secure GPT is the only large language model at Stanford Medicine approved for use with sensitive data, including Protected Health Information (PHI) and Personally Indentifiable Information (PII).
This tool, developed for Stanford Health Care and School of Medicine users, offers a secure, HIPAA-compliant space to explore AI tools for real-world clinical and administrative tasks.
It also includes image generation capabilities through DALL·E, making it a useful tool for education, research, and communication - without compromising data security.
