The Department of Medicine Remembers Infectious Diseases Expert Jack Remington

Jack Remington, MD

The Department of Medicine fondly remembers friend, colleague, mentor and world-renowned infectious diseases expert Jack Remington, MD, who passed away on April 8, 2021.

A pioneer in his field, Remington was a long-standing member of the Infectious Diseases and Geographic Medicine division. He founded the Dr. Jack S. Remington Laboratory for Specialty Diagnostics, formerly known as the Toxoplasma Serology Laboratory, which is now an international reference site for toxoplasmosis diagnosis.

Known for his kindness and generosity, Remington served as a mentor to countless colleagues and trainees. Upi Singh, MD, professor of infectious disease and geographic medicine, warmly describes Remington as strong-willed, confident and outspoken. “Inside the lion was a heart of gold,” says Singh.
