Stertzer, MD, Professorship, which recognizes his expertise in heart failure and heart transplants, and his dedication to improving quality of life for these patients. Widely revered among the medical community, Lewis demonstrates a deep commitment to expanding Stanford Medicine’s clinical research initiatives. Colleagues describe him as an esteemed clinician-scientist who cares deeply about his patients.

The Simon H. Stertzer, MD, Professorship continues the Stertzer family’s 20 plus year tradition of philanthropic support for the School of Medicine and Stanford Health Care. Simon Stertzer is professor of medicine, emeritus, of cardiovascular medicine. He joined the Stanford clinical faculty in 1994 and was appointed a professor of medicine in June 1998, serving in the role through May 2003. He is a pioneer in interventional cardiology, performing the first coronary balloon angioplasty in the United States.

Paul Wang, MD, professor of medicine (cardiovascular medicine) and of bioengineering was awarded the John R. Singleton and Ai Giak L. Singleton Endowed Directorship. As co-director of the Stanford Center for Arrhythmia Research, the funding will support Wang’s commitment to developing new solutions and inventing technologies that improve arrhythmia care. He is an expert in the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias, including atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, ventricular arrhythmias, supraventricular arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death.
