Tina Hernandez-Boussard Named to National Advisory Council

Tina Hernandez-Boussard, MD, associate professor of biomedical informatics, data science, and surgery, has just been named to the National Advisory Council for Healthcare Research and Quality.

The council provides advice and recommendations to the director of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) and the secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) on priorities for a national health services research agenda.

Per the AHRQ’s website, “AHRQ develops the knowledge, tools, and data needed to improve the health care system and help Americans, health care professionals, and policymakers make informed health decisions.”

Hernandez-Boussard calls the appointment “an exciting opportunity to advise the agency on the research questions that should be prioritized” in order to improve healthcare in the United States.

She’s eager to begin her work with the council. “I am looking forward to working with other council members - all national leaders in varied health care fields," she says.  Together we will identify evidence gaps and set research priorities to make health care safer and improve care delivery. “
