Quality Improvement Mission Statement

The Department of Medicine is the largest department within Stanford University's School of Medicine with approximately 230 faculty in 14 Divisions and Programs. Our shared vision is to achieve excellence in research, education and patient care.  The Department of Medicine’s mission is to provide high quality, patient-centered, safe, and evidence-based care to all of our patients. To support this, we maintain an ongoing program to evaluate and improve the quality and safety of patient care. The Department of Medicine Quality Council is chaired by Lisa Shieh, MD, PhD.
