Stanford Lymphoma Program Celebrates 50 Years
In commemoration of these accomplishments the Lymphoma Program is hosting a weekend of festivities on July 13th and 14th, 2012. These events will honor Dr. Rosenberg for 51 years on the Stanford Faculty, commemorate the 50th anniversary of the initiation of the Stanford clinical trials for lymphoma, and honor the many patients that the lymphoma team has treated over those years. The celebration begins on Friday with a symposium of tribute featuring presentations by special guests Drs. Gianni Bonadonna, George Canellos, Patrice Carde, Vince DeVita, Volker Diehl, Eli Glatstein, Mary Gospodarowicz, Sandra Horning and Andrew Lister, who all join Drs. Hoppe, Advani, Donaldson and Levy in presentations ranging from the Evolution of Radiation Therapy for Hodgkin’s Disease (HD) to overviews of Stanford’s clinical trials for adult and pediatric HD from 1962 to present, concluding the day with closing remarks from Dr. Rosenberg.
Saturday’s celebration will honor all who have been involved with the Stanford Lymphoma Program over the past 50 years including former patients, staff and physicians (including residents and fellows who were in training).
For over half a century a multidisciplinary team of Stanford physicians, researchers, nurses and other health care professionals have dedicated their life’s work to improving treatment for patients with lymphoma, and to finding a cure for this disease. The collaboration has included faculty from the Medicine, Pathology, Radiation Oncology, Radiology, Surgery, Pediatrics, Health & Research Policy, Dermatology and Psychiatry Departments.
Dr. Rosenberg and this dedicated core of individuals helped to define the standard of care for lymphomas worldwide. Their legacy continues today through innovative research into immune system cancer and its molecular and genetic origins, and new and improved treatment options for patients.
