Residents, faculty and housestaff recognized at year-end banquet

At the Residency Program’s year-end banquet on June 12, residents, faculty and housestaff were honored for their commitment to excellence in teaching and patient care.

The following awards were presented:

  • Andre Kumar, MD, received an award for best clinical teaching by a medicine resident.  
  • Cardiovascular fellows Fatima Rodriguez, MD, and June Rhee, MD received the Timothy F. Beckett Jr. Award, which honors exceptional clinical teaching by a medicine fellow.
  • Monique Barakat, MD, received an award for housestaff professionalism.
  • Internal medicine residents Molly Kantor, MD, and Nathan Myall, MD, received the Charles Dorsey Armstrong Award, which is awarded to senior residents for clinical excellence in patient care.
  • Dean Winslow, MD, clinical professor of general medical disciplines, received the David A. Rytand Clinical Teaching Award, which recognizes teaching excellence by a Department of Medicine faculty member.
  • Mickey Trockel, MD, PhD, clinical assistant professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences, received the Humanism Award.
  • Kyle Harrison, MD, clinical associate professor of anesthesia, and Geoffrey Lighthall, MD, associate professor of anesthesiology and periopoerative and pain medicine, received the Chief Residents’ Award, which honors outstanding contributions to resident education from faculty outside of the Department of Medicine.
