PCHA-UHA Conference on Practice-Based Research Networks Set for June 4th, 2018

On Monday, June 4, 2018, the Center for Policy Outcomes and Prevention (CPOP) and the Stanford Center for Clinical Research (SCCR) will present a half-day conference focused on practice-based research networks (PBRN) and current efforts underway at Stanford to develop the Packard Children’s Health Alliance-University HealthCare Alliance Research and Learning Collaborative (PCHA-UHA RLC). 

The conference is intended for Stanford faculty members interested in conducting community-based research, community practitioners interested in learning about research, and the research community interested in learning about vision and goals of the PCHA-UHA RLC.

The event will begin with a welcome by PCHA-UHA Research and Learning Collaborative (RLC) Co-Director Gary Shaw, DrPH, PCHA Medical Director Andrew Smith, MD, and UHA Chief Medical Officer Bryan Bohman, MD. C. Jason Wang, MD, PhD, Co-Director of the PCHA-UHA RLC, will then present on the vision of the RLC.

The pediatric session will then begin with a keynote presentation by Alexander Fiks, MD, MSCE who will discuss his work with the Pediatric Research in Office Settings (PROS) network. Other speakers will discuss their work in pediatrics at Stanford and the potential for research projects with community providers. A panel discussion will conclude the pediatric session with additional discussants to address any audience questions.

The afternoon session will focus on adult-centered care, with a keynote presentation from Brenda Reiss-Brennan, PhD, APRN. She will discuss the establishment of the Mental Health Integration Model at Intermountain Healthcare. Other afternoon speakers will discuss their experiences with research in a community practice environment and the importance of involving community providers and their patients in clinical research.
