As part of the inaugural Department of Medicine Diversity and Inclusion Week 2020, Bob Harrington, MD, Chair of the Department of Medicine, announced the Diversity Investigator Awards.  Applications for the awards are due March 20, and the award period will start May 1, 2020.

The awards committee will select four proposals submitted by instructors and assistant professors for research work focused on diversity, equity, inclusion and/or elimination of health care disparities.

Winning proposals will be granted $50,000 each.

The award overview states that the awards will “support research that addresses health inequity, social determinants of health, cultural competence, outcomes improvement, health system access/utilization for racial, ethnic and sexual and gender minorities, among many other possibilities. In general, all reasonable ideas that are innovative and impactful and demonstrate a commitment to diversity or elimination of health care disparities are welcome.”
