Stanford-AstraZeneca Collaboration Research Grants Now Inviting Applications for Year 3


As part of the Stanford-AstraZeneca collaboration, Stanford Center for Clinical Research (SCCR) is excited to announce that the collaboration committee is now accepting applications for year three of the collaboration (2018-2019) to select up to two proposals for funding.

Eligibility: 

Stanford School of Medicine faculty and instructors with PI eligibility are invited to submit applications. Investigators with clinical trial proposals in the areas of cardio-metabolic diseases, respiratory diseases, and oncology, are encouraged to apply.

Out-of-Scope proposals include preclinical studies, clinical trials assessing drug efficacy or safety, and medicinal chemistry.

A list of proposal examples includes, but is not limited to proposals:

    ·         To improve care quality and/or reduce the cost of care and/or the development of metrics to measure such changes

    ·         To test the effectiveness of health behavioral interventions

    ·         To assess the acceptability, adoption, and/or technical success of digital tools to modify and/or measure health markers

    ·         To leverage technology to improve disease management and/or patient outcomes

    ·         To develop novel ways to improve the conduct of clinical trials, including ways to engage with patients for enrolling in clinical trials, or ways to improve site and patient trial experience

 

Amount and Project Timeline: 

This year the selection committee will select up to two clinical trial proposals to be funded. 

- The committee will award: 

    ·      Two projects each to be awarded up to $179,000 (including ~30% IDC)

                  OR

    ·      One project to be awarded $358,000 (including ~30% IDC)  

- Project Duration:

    ·      Expected duration of each project: 1 year

 

Selection Process:

The collaboration committee will review and evaluate all submitted proposals and select up to two for funding.

 

Application Timeline:

    -   Online applications start: November 14, 2017

    -   Deadline to submit applications: December 15, 2017                             

    -   Announcement of proposal selection decision: April 2018

 

Application Format:

    - Application proposal templates can be downloaded below. 

    - Research proposals must include:

        1.   Cover page:

            ·         Project title, PI name, credentials, department, contact details

        2.   Proposal:

            ·         4 pages maximum (excluding cover page and references)

            ·         Format: 1” margins; no less than 12-point Times New Roman

            ·         PI first and last name, project title, and date in footer of every page

            ·         Background of proposal

            ·         Study rationale

            ·         Project description

            ·         Current status of the project

            ·         Existing funding (if any)

            ·         Subcontractors/third parties involved

        3.   Detailed budget and justification: 2 pages maximum ($358,000 max includes 30% IDC)

        4.   Principal Investigator CV (PI last name and project title only as CV attachment name)
